A Better Day Than Yesterday July 26th

Good evening. Today went a lot better than yesterday did. It was also a fairly comfortable day weather wise.

First my nephew took my Dad in to see my Mom. They said she is roaming all over the place when she can get the nurses to unhook her from the IV. The doctor said she will be released tomorrow. They just want to get some more antibiotics directly into her veins first. So I will take Dad in with me in the morning and hope they move fairly fast getting the release paperwork finished.

Because Mom is doing good we went to the produce auction. My cousin followed us so he would know the way. This was his first food auction, but I think he had a good time. He got some sweet corn and tomatoes. I got a few things today also. The first thing was a couple of watermelons for 3.50 each. IMG_20160726_232800725  This is the one I kept and the other one is at Mom and Dads for when she gets home. Then I got a box with nine or ten over grown zucchini in it for a quarter. They are too ripe to be good but the chickens loved their cheap treat. I figured it was very cheap food for them. I also got a ten pound box of bananas for 1.50 IMG_20160726_232809979 They are in great shape and tasted good as desert tonight. But my favorite purchase was these. IMG_20160726_232815711  They are called pea tomatoes and are about the size of a pea. Hubby says they have great tomato flavor. I will take his word for it as I dont like tomatoes. I just wanted them to try growing them. They were a 1.50 per quart. I am thinking they should be easy to grow as a house plant. Hubby and the chickens would be able to enjoy fresh tomatoes all year if they are. The plant should not be very big so I am going to try them in a hanging basket.

Now it is getting close to my bedtime so I will visit again in the morning if I have the time. I hope everyone else had a great day also.

I love it, especially in the fall when the pumpkins and gourds start coming in

I had never seen them here before this, but a friend had looked for seeds and could not find them. Now we have some

Oh, good! Please, let us know how it goes! I’ll buy some seeds next weekend, at a near market, and… hey! That could become an interest post, don’t you think! 🙂

I am going to try them in the house at my south window. It is getting too late in the year here to put them outside. I am guessing that the plant is not any bigger than a cherry tomato and I keep them in hanging baskets
