Warning: Minor spoilers
Are you looking for a girl power movie? You must see The Call, starring Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin. The title of the movie comes from the fact that the main character is working in a 911 emergency call center. Jordan Turner (Berry) is a 911 operator.
The movie starts when Turner receives a call from a girl named Leah. Leah says there is an intruder at their house and she is asking for help. At first, I thought the girl would escape the intruder but then Turner makes a big mistake and the young girl gets killed.
Turner cannot move on from the experience. During that time there are a series of young girls being kidnapped and found dead everywhere. Turner has a big regret and blames herself for what happened to Leah.
Years after, one of her trainees receives a similar call. Because she wants to recover from what happened in the past, Turner tries her best to help Casey (Breslin), a young teenage girl that has been abducted by a serial killer. Will she be able to help Casey escape the serial killer? I guess you need to watch the movie to know!
My review is, this is the best of the best of the best of what I saw about girls or women fighting back against the enemy. I am the kind of person that, when I was young, I dreamed of fighting the bad people in the street. In this movie, it became a dream come true for me to see a woman fighting against a psychopath.
The killer here is Brad Anderson and I can say that he does a great job of making me feel stress. I wanted to tear him to pieces when I saw him. He is a psychopath serial killer, which is why you will wonder how strong he is. And he does not fail to make me feel I need to worry about my own life when I see him.
In this movie, I can feel how Jordan Turner wants to get her old identity back by helping the girl named Casey. I can feel how she is scared and wants to be strong at the same time. Halle Berry is really a good actress. Oh man, I can feel the stress all over her face! I can feel her heart jumping whenever she hears Casey scared, screaming and everything. There is a part when I really wanted to cry because it seems I am losing hope. (Take note, I am the one that is losing hope and not the characters.) But then, in the end, good people win and I hope it will happen in real life.
If you want a solid action-packed movie with a little bit of stress and crying, this one is the perfect movie for you. I also learned that during the weak times, you gather all your strength when life is at stake. It is always true.
Go watch The Call. I highly recommend it!!
