If you are on a writing site that is point based (credits you points for your publishing and interacting activities) you can earn from your online contents even if you don’t care about search engine traffic and search engine page rank. However, to earn substantially, your article must be ranked top on search engines and generate traffic from search engines. If you have a website, blog, subdomains or account on niche content sites, your earnings will largely depend on search engine traffic.
If you are publishing personal stories or articles on seasonal topic, on your blogs and websites, it is perfectly okay for such articles to become non-performing. However, if you are publishing informative online contents on evergreen topic, you must be able to get regular visitors so that these articles will continuously earn you money. Here lies the importance of search engines optimization (SEO).
Your article can attract visitors from search engines only when it ranks high on search engines. If your article ranks 100th on Google, it will probably be never found by the visitors even though your article might be great. If you can manage to pull your article on page number 1 or 2, it is very likely that it will attract visitors.
If you want to earn a living from your online contents, you need search engine traffic. Search engine traffic means the visitors who land on your page while searching certain topic on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.
Here are some basic rules to increase search engine traffic and increase search engine page rank.
Rule #1 Publish Original and Quality Contents
Always offer fresh information that cannot be found elsewhere. Stay away from duplicate content and heavily saturated topic. Don’t plagiarize contents from another website. Never assemble webpages in your article, always provide fresh perspective.
Rule #2: Write For the Readers
The basics of earning search engines traffic is always write on the topic that readers find useful and informative. You can take a cue from search suggestions on Google, Bing, Yahoo etc. to find what people are searching on the internet, or go to Google Adword Keyword Tool to see moderately searched keywords.
Rule #3 Update Your Contents From Time To Time
Search engines give credit to new contents. The article published in 2015 will always be pulled down by the article published in 2016. Web traffic on your highly successful content, over the time, may drop. You can avoid this by updating your contents. Updating includes deleting unnecessary texts, adding relevant information, tweaking the title, using keywords etc.
