Ignorance is Not Bliss! Why Can’t Some People Manage to Put the Trash into the Garbage Dumpster?

IMG_20160530_160000

This is a picture of a dumpster at the apartment complex. As you can see, the dumpster is indeed not completely full. The little slide door is open and you can see empty space in the dumpster. This being said, there is still a pile of trash outside of the dumpster. The mattress I can understand because, while it might fit inside the dumpster, it would indeed be hard to put it in there. But the bags upon bags of junk sitting right outside the not full dumpster! Why? What excuse do people have for this? They were already standing right in front of the dumpster to deposit the bags. Are people really that lazy that they couldn’t be bothered to lift the bags into the dumpster?

This picture is the source of much of my frustration. To some, it may not seem like that big of a deal. We all see it every day, just about everywhere we look. However to me, especially in this particular place, it is a big deal. Especially since all it would take is four extra seconds out of someone’s day to put the bags of trash into the dumpster.

If this had just happened once, I may be less heated about it. The sad part is that it happens daily. People take the trash out and figure they made it to the dumpster, so they don’t need to actually put it in. I feel disgusted by not only the laziness of these people but by the rudeness. I live in hurricane central. Even when there isn’t a hurricane, we get weather that changes on the flip of a dime. Rain, wind, extreme heat, all things that can blow the trash, wash it out into the streets or simply bake it and make it stink to high heaven.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves. There are kids, pets, and just people in general that are living all around. We don’t want to see this and we shouldn’t have to see this. Especially when there is not only this dumpster but FOUR others on property. They all look like this, though! I simply can’t fathom why. Maybe it’s just that little bit of hippy that is left in me from growing up in Portland. I was always taught to take care of my surroundings, especially outside. To care for the earth and nature and all that. I mean yeah, I’ve littered before. But it was mostly by accident. I try not to if I can help it. But this is taking it too far.

I know this post was pretty rant filled, and I sound pretty angry. At least to myself, now that I have gone back and read it. But seriously, I just can’t get over it. It’s been a constant aggravation for the last several months, and I really wish I could get it through to other people’s heads that this is not how civilized people live.

I’ve seen this sort of thing many, many times before. People will bring their trash just as far as a dumpster or garbage bin but seem afraid that if the put the bags into the bin, they’ll get dirty. I don’t think it’s laziness. I think they’re afraid to get dirty doing a job right.

This happened at the condos we used to live in. I hated it. But luckily, where we live now, everybody throws their trash in the dumpster. Although there is one idiot who doesn’t put his beer cans in a bag, just dumps them all into the dumpster, and that attracts bees. Nobody likes this guy anyway. I threatened that the next time I saw bees, I was taking my garbage up to him and HE could throw it away because I’m not getting stung.

Some peopel are plain lazy. I bet if management goes through the trash to find out whom is doing that and give them a hefty fine or kick them out. I bet that will stop.

This used to happen all of the time in the trailer park that we lived in, it was nasty! I had to hold my breath just to take the trash over and put in the dumpsters! They have no respect for others at all when they do this.
