There are many medicinal and health benefits to brewing and drinking your own tea.  As a matter of fact, the use of tea can be traced back thousands of years.  Many cultures throughout the world use tea to treat one ailment or another.  While over 3,000 varieties of tea come from the Camilla Sinensis, there are specific types of tea that help take care of specific health issues.  The most popular healing teas are listed below.

If you suffer from motion sickness, morning sickness, bloating, flatulence, heartburn, indigestion or diarrhea, drinking ginger tea is excellent in relieving these disruptive ailments of the digestive system.  Fennel seed is just as effective.  Add two teaspoons to a cup of hot water.  Chamomile tea also does wonders on the digestive system and is also effective in treating:

Fennel seed tea is also an excellent tea if you are trying to lose weight.  It helps speed up the metabolism in your body and allows your body to digest food more efficiently.  Sine fennel seed has a taste similar to licorice, drinking this tea between meals can ward off the munchies.  Spearmint tea also speeds up the metabolism as well as giving you fresh breath.

For arthritis pain drinking cinnamon tea helps reduce inflammation and improve movement in your joints.  You can add ground cinnamon to a cup of hot water or use a cinnamon stick to make a decoction.  To make a sweeter variety of this tea, add one or two tablespoons of honey to it.  This natural sweetener has many health benefits of its own.

There are many symptoms involved when you are suffering from a cold of the Flu.  The question is what type of teas you should drink to fight the symptoms.  If you are suffering from a headache or have a fever, peppermint tea is an effective pain and fever reducer.  If you have a sore throat or are coughing, licorice tea helps with these symptoms.  If you have a large amount of chest congestion clove tea does wonders.  Echinacea tea also helps boost the immune system as well.   It all depends on the severity of the symptoms and whether if you have the ingredients on hand.  You probably do not want to run to the store to find some herbs that you already do not have.  Whatever tea you decide to drink during cold and flu season, always make sure to add honey and lemon juice to it.  These extra ingredients with provide your body with extra antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
