Good evening again. The weather was a little bit cooler today and we had a nice breeze most of the time. I got a few things done without feeling exhausted from the heat.
First thing this morning after feeding the critters we loaded up and headed to the auction. I did not sell anything but there was not very many people there today so no big deal. Hubby was ready to come home after I found a mule that I liked. I was a good girl and did not go back down to see what she sold for. And I know if I had wanted her bad enough she would be out with the girls right now. I was hoping to make some money but the garden actually needed my attention more anyways.
Once home I headed to the garden. Hubby picked the tomatoes after I got the gourd vines moved back out of them. Then I went over to the pumpkin vines to move them so I could get to the cucumbers. Here is how close to ready one of my pumpkins are. The other one that is that big is not far behind being ready. As I had guessed most of my cucumbers went to the carport so I can feed them out to the chickens. I did get a few smaller ones that I like to eat. Then it was down to the bell pepper plants. I have about two pecks of those picked now and a lot more smaller ones still out there. I will get them diced up and in the freezer tomorrow.
Next I went out back and added wire to my tire planters that are by the chicken pen. The chickens were able to reach a few leaves through the fence and eat them. That would slowly kill the plants as they could not keep growing. I angled the new wire and laid the vines on them to keep them farther away while they grow up it. I laughed at one of my ducks trying to get a leaf after I did that. He did not look happy that his beak would not fit through the chicken wire.
After we ate I took the puppies out to play. They had a good time while I got my plants watered. They even tried chasing the water for a little bit. When I had all of that done I walked around the back yard with them for a few minutes enjoying the cool air and my flowers..I even got a new video that you can see HERE They had a lot of fun. At least they are still short enough that they can not reach the plants in the backyard.
All photos are mine.
