What would you do with an extra $100?

Imagine you were suddenly given $100 to spend in any manner you would like to spend it. What would you do with this money? As money does not go very far these days, a one hundred dollar bill might seem like an amount that won’t do much where you live. However, consider a few of the following thoughts before deciding what you would do with that gift of $100.

Utility costs:

In the United states, there are some areas where the utility costs for a month could be covered with $100 or less. In other areas, this amount of money might only cover half or a third of the total expenses for a month. How much could an extra $100 help in covering your utility costs?

Paper goods:

It would be easy to stock up on the paper products that a typical household needs if an extra $100 dollars was added to the budget. This would be a great time to use coupons too-perhaps making the $100 seem like even more. Would $100 help you add more to your paper good supply?

Entertainment:

Some may want to use an extra $100 to attend an event or to purchase items for entertainment. More games or even gaming supplies might be the choice for this group. Is entertainment of any sort important enough for you that you could see yourself spending the extra $100 you were given in this area?

Typical household bills:

While receiving an extra $100 as a gift from someone might seem wonderful at first, many realize the money might have to go directly to bills. Those who choose to pay utility bills as mentioned above, or who have to apply the extra $100 to an outstanding debt may feel the extra money did not give them much satisfaction. However, as most of us have not experienced having $100 given to us, we might not know how we would feel about this.

Baby needs a new pair of shoes:

What if someone needs new clothes or shoes and you were given a $100 bill? Would you go shopping for something of this nature? Spending that extra $100 on such needed items might give you great satisfaction.

Vegetables for freezing or canning:

Shopping at a local market with $100 extra could suddenly give some of us a way to purchase enough vegetables to freeze or can some more food for the winter season. If you do not can or freeze vegetables yourself, this could still be enough to buy a lot of frozen vegetables. Would shopping for frozen food items be your choice if you had an extra $100 available?

Your turn! What would you really like to do with the extra imaginary $100 you

$100 could buy a lot of food in the US if one buys real food. Those buying packaged items won’t get much.

Fortunately I don’t have to worry about the necessities and I don’t believe in spending that much on entertainment, so I’d probably save it away to spend on one of my hobbies when there was something I really wanted to buy.

It is not much and it can buy me 4 sacks of fertilizers here in the Php. I am a farmer that dabbles in freelance work in my spare time. 🙂

The thought of having someone give me $100.00 would be too good to believe. If it did happen though, I would try and put it away someplace. If it was cash, hiding it from my family would be easy. It it was in the bank it would be very easy to use it for bills or food.

Maybe one day soon we will both have the chance to see what we would really do with the gift of $100.

One hundred dollars wouldn’t go far in Florida, but I think if I got a paper bill, I would save it for a “rainy day.” What an awesome article to read — fun topic. 🙂

Is there really such a thing as extra 100.00 bills? It seems like every dollar you get needs to go somewhere these days. It would probably go towards the propane tank that will soon need filled for the winter.

That is what is so funny about money-it just goes! There are no extra dollars anywhere these days.

If given a chance . I would want to spend it with my family. We will go to church and hear the mass. Then, we go to our local food restaurant to have a feast. Then, we go to a park to breathe some fresh air and have a picnic and ice cream and burger until afternoon. then we will end up in an amusement park. And dinner to end the day. Besides, It is our plan this coming weekend as we celebrate a family Sunday. and there will be more for school expenses and electricity and water bills.

With an extra hundred dollars, i would buy me a new smartphone. Since mine has cracks from my grandson throwing it. Plus, it gets hot really quick. Thanks to getting soaking in cooking oil. Long story, not happy about what happen.

It seems there is never really ‘extra’ money these days! There is always something waiting to be prepared or something we have to purchase.
