Would he be an instant millionaire? There are many instances where people became an instant millionaire with almost just a blink of an eye. Some may have it by winning the lottery. Others may get it by working hard abroad where sometimes they are rewarded for being a faithful and honest servant.

The Most Fortunate Fisherman

Well, a similar fortune would be enjoyed by an unidentified small fisherman from Palawan. At this time, it isn’t about winning the lottery. It was about disposing of his massive pearl which he found 10 years ago. This pearl stuck in his fishing net while he went fishing in the sea of Palawan. It would be a long story to tell. Anyway, he wasn’t too ambitious to sell that alleged stone which believed to be a pearl.

He wanted to keep it as a souvenir and probably as his lucky charm. It was later made known to the public when he transferred house. The people wowed upon seeing that big stone loaded in the motorised tricycle. He wasn’t interested bringing it along with him while transferring to the other place. Instead, he entrusted it to his aunt, the City Tourism officer of Puerto Princesa. The gem was displayed at the Puerto Princesa city hall. The awesomeness of the gem became the tourism attraction in the said place. It’s good that nobody with a bad intention tried to steal the stone from where it’s displayed. Most of the people there had already known the great value of the said huge pearl. It would be safe to keep it in a vault rather than to be displayed for the public view. Or it would be better to sell it in the public auction. The fisherman-owner would benefit it financially. He would be an instant millionaire so to speak.

How Big is the Pearl?

According to the news report, it weighs about 34 kilograms or 75 pounds. It measures 30×60 centimeters or 12×24 inches. Its estimated value is more than hundred million dollars. As of this writing, it wasn’t authenticated yet by the gem experts whether it is a pearl or not. By the way, the name of the finder of the said stone wasn’t divulged. I think it’s for his security reason.

I also enjoy fishing, but not in the sea. I fish in the river, creek or even in the rice paddies in our place.

That is common among the people here in our place. You will be surprised that an instant winner who has no relative, would have relatives coming out.

Well, we have the same reaction, the same feeling. It had been long in the possession of fisherman’s aunt and the stone hadn’t been examined or tested yet. Something is messy.
