You have decided to lose weight for a variety of reasons. You may find that your favorite pair of pants are getting too snug on you. You may not like how when you try clothes on at the store that your stomach seems to be protruding out. However, the number one reason why you should lose weight is if you are overweight, your lifespan might be shortened because you are at a risk of having heart disease, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. You see a whole bunch of diets around you. Which one is the best for you? It is best to ignore diets that promise you that you will lose a lot of weight in no time at all. These will not work. You will either lose muscle and tissue weight through starvation. This is not healthy at all! Or you may be required to give up on your favorite food-such as the Atkin’s Diet banning bread and other forms of carbohydrates. You want a diet that contains a healthy mixture of fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, leans meats, seafood, whole grains and nuts. When you want that piece of cake, you can treat yourself to one once in a while and still lose weight. It will be a slow gradual weight loss. However, you will at least not deprive your body of any needed vitamins and minerals-ones you can lose if you do one of the fad diets.
You need food that is high in protein. This is needed if you are exercising and want to build and maintain strong muscles. If you do not have enough protein every day, you metabolism slows down. You can try whey protein shakes which you can purchase at most grocery stores. It is an excellent addition to your diet to ensure that you are getting enough protein each day. Trying to eat healthy can be expensive since lean cuts of meat cost more than the ones that are loaded with fat. Whey protein is a cheaper alternative.
Do not listen when the “experts” tell you to avoid all dairy products. While saturated fats can lead to heart disease and high cholesterol, you can still eat dairy products that are low-fat and fat-free. They even taste just as good as the ones loaded with saturated fats. Dairy products contain calcium which plays a role in fat loss. People who include dairy in their diets have a better chance of losing fat compared to those who omit them.
Never leave green vegetables out of your diet. Leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach and loaded with fiber and other mineral and vitamins which help speed up metabolism. If you decide to limit the amount of red meat you eat each week, you may not be getting enough iron in your body. You can help give your body the iron it needs be eating your greens. Vegetables are a major source of energy and will help speed up your metabolism.
If you stop using salt when making your meals, you may notice that the meals might have a bland flavor to it. You can spice up your meals with a wide variety of spices. Not only that, some spices help speed up your metabolism. If you can handle the heat, try cooking with cayenne pepper and chili. The hotter the spice, the more your body will work to cool you off. If you cannot handle the heat of these, try some of the milder ones.
Green tea is an excellent beverage to drink. Not only does this super food contain antioxidants that will keep you healthy and lowers the risk of having heart disease, it helps increase your metabolism. If you drink this tea instead of the carbonated soft drinks, you will be able to lose weight faster.
