    Kyla Matton Osborne

At the end of August 2016, we had a couple of posts that earned views very quickly. One of them, “Important Things a Widow Won’t Tell You… but She Wants You to Know,” by @donnathacker, skyrocketed to our #1 slot in just a few hours. This post not only gained views quickly but almost doubled the traffic we had seen for our #1 posts in the previous several weeks. Donna’s post is still seeing traffic and is evergreen, which means it can continue to see traffic for weeks, months, and even years to come. Donna also made sure to promote her post in a forum where she knew the members would be interested in her topic. So that goes to show all of us that if we write for our audience and then help that audience find our posts, they can outperform even the viral topics that we would expect to get big views.

Another really fast mover is @becky‘s seasonal post, “National Toasted Marshmallow Day.” This post is not quite so evergreen, as it refers specifically to a day in late August. But it talks about a food many people love and it took advantage of a trending topic. This post is currently in our #3 position after just a couple of days on the site. It probably won’t get a ton of traffic, now that the day is over with for 2016. But it has the potential to attract new views around the same time each year. And of course, there are also opportunities to link back to this post from other posts that relate to marshmallows!

Congratulations to Donna and to Rebecca for a couple of well-written posts! BlogBourne is proud of you both for producing quality and for marketing your content well 😀
