A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there. ~ unknown
So what does that mean for you and for me?
It has been said for centuries that if you don’t have to work for anything, nothing will come to you and I imagine that this quote has a lot to do with that. Comfort zones are places to go when you are stressed out, when the world seems to be trying to eat you up alive and spit you out again. They are safe places where no one asks anything of you and you don’t ask anything of yourself either. But, and here is the kicker: You can’t live there!
We cannot stay in our comfort zones. They are only meant for short term stays.
When we are ready again, we pick up our pieces and dust ourselves off and get ready to take that first step into a new day. Hopefully we have had time to renew and re-energize and reflect on how we can do things differently or better so that we don’t end up back in our comfort zones again.
Life is a series of decisions that we make one moment after the other. We need a plan for our lives and then taking those steps will be much easier. Put that picture of where you want to be in front of you, with the steps required to get there and you will have a map to your future. All along the way though, you will be asked to stretch yourself in ways that you haven’t before.
You will need to learn something new, tackle a new subject that you’ve never thought of before, memorize some steps that need to be followed and more. These will definitely not be in your comfort zone, but it is where you will grow. The other thing that will happen, is that you will be asked to share! Share your knowledge, your experience and your time, with your fellow travelers in this world. Sometimes that is very uncomfortable, but it is necessary in order to become the best version of who you are.
Embrace the changes that will make you shine like the sun, reflect the beauty of you like the moon in the night and smile knowing that you are making a difference to someone else or to yourself. All of this is very, very good!
Ultimately, don’t ever forget to be thankful! We are not in this world alone, every one we touch or every one who touches us, leaves us with a lesson! That lesson can be good or bad, but it is a lesson to learn from, be thankful!
