A political campaign is one of the strategies used by those who are running for any type of political office. By campaigning to the public, they can gain the support and votes of massive numbers of voters.
There are types of campaigning;
- Television Advertisements: This is the basic campaign strategy and a popular way to gain masses of voters across an entire nation.
- Social Media Campaigns: Nowadays, the younger generation uses the internet for information. Young people belong to virtual communities that spread news and opinions virtually. I have actually experienced this type of campaign.
- Door-to-Door Campaigning: There is a big impact on voters when a political candidate takes the time to come knocking on their doors and speak to them at home. This type of campaign is truly time-consuming but it helps the voters choose who support.
- Political Rallies: This is also a basic type of campaign, which typically takes place in a big venue. Candidates can announce their party platform and introduce running mates.
These are just examples of political campaigning I have observed here in the Philippines. There are various types of campaigning but they all have one goal: to spread the words of their platforms and the candidates’ promises to their countrymen. But still, each individual will decide who will they support.
