Why Airline Abuses in Time of Crisis?

This concern I have realized on the day which my daughter is about to go home after working abroad for two years.

My wife, my children, and grandchildren went with me to fetch her at the airport that night. Her travel lasted for 14 hours and she would home the early morning of the following day.

She contacted us through a video call that she was already landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. All of us were happy to know that. She proceeds to the domestic airport to purchase a ticket in going home. She was aghast. She could believe an ordinary plane ticket for a local flight cost so much. A one-way trip is Php10,000.00 ($212 USD), that is too much.

The airline took advantage of the scarcity of passengers due to APEC Meeting which controlled the influx of flight to a limited frequency. Due to that incident, many had been stranded, had their family apprehensive and caused so much worry.

In our country, that is profiteering and it is punishable by law. The problem is nobody has taken the courage to file a formal complaint with the proper court. What does it imply? That airline has the control of the air business here in our country. I don’t if it will work with the new President.

I don’t if this malpractice of the airline company has been curtailed by the Duterte’s government. We have strong confidence that President Duterte could iron out anything that is a mess in his administration.
